I was never a fan of the c5 corvette.The performance speaks for itself but I didn’t care for the exterior styling.
But a friend of mine who owns a car lot called me in the fall and said he had this Corvette he needed off his lot to make room for more 4wd vehicles. Said he would sell it to me for what they paid at auction and he would finance it at 0%.
Well, I went and drove it and ended up taking it home.
I ended up driving it for close to a year and really enjoying the car until the harmonic balancer failed and I was forced to take apart the entire front end to replace it.
That’s when I discovered all the damage that had been covered up from a previous unreported accident involving frame damage.
Well I had been watching Cleetus McFarland on YouTube for quite some time by this point and wanting a vette kart in the worst kind of way. Finding all the damage in my car made that decision very easy
Building it wasn’t as challenging as I thought it would be. Just a lot of time, sketches and tracking down the right parts to make it look just the way I wanted it to.
I sent my insurance agent some pictures once it was road-worthy again and he emailed me back with a 1 line response.
“You’re insured. I never saw those pictures”.
